It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the coaches at Razorback CrossFit, and our sister boxes, DAC CrossFit, 501 CrossFit, and CrossFit Foxcroft are very proud of what our athletes accomplish.  We expect and encourage our athletes to achieve the goals they set for themselves.  While coaching, we take mental notes of struggles found in the movements and technique, and we strive to provide a program that allows each member of our CrossFit family to become successful.  Many of our outstanding athletes take it upon themselves to put in additional work to grow and conquer the goals they set.  This does not go unnoticed and it makes us, as coaches, excited to see someone put in such hard work.

This brings us to our current Member Spotlight, Usha Mittal.  Usha began her journey with Razorback CrossFit 8 weeks ago, but she has always been an exercise enthusiast.  Nearly every day, she is in the gym before class (and after) working on movements to improve her strength and skills; all of this, in addition to giving it her all on the WOD.  We are very proud that Usha has joined our community!

What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout?

I absolutely loved it!  I was hooked after that first workout; it was a challenge that I was excited to accept.  From that first day, I knew it would be a lot of work to really learn all of the movements, but I knew it would take some time that I was willing to put in.  The way you (our coaches) approach each member with patience and excitement to spread your passion is infectious!

What do you like most about CrossFit?

The WODs are great because it is a good mixture of everything.  Here at Razorback CrossFit, it is economical because so many amenities are offered with the membership.  The personal touch that the coaches add not only to each workout, but to how they take care of and encourage us on a personal level is very motivating.

What is your favorite exercise or workout?

Really, any and every WOD is!  It’s a love-hate kind of relationship. Ha!  Sometimes you hate what you are doing while doing it, but you love it at the same time because of the challenge and how fun it is. It is such a short amount of time out of your day and you benefit so much from the variety of movements we do.

What changes have you noticed since you began CrossFit?

I have noticed physical changes in body composition, which has led me to feel great mentally.  I am stronger and determined to continue this fun journey with you all.

What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit, or someone who is thinking about joining?

Try it for at least a week before making a final decision.  It will be hard and challenge you in ways you didn’t expect, but you learn to love that and know those are the things that get you to your goals and even further!  You will find your weaknesses quickly, but you also find your strengths; some you had no idea you were capable of.  So, it really is for everyone, in that everyone can benefit from something in CrossFit and just because you may have found a weakness first, you can’t call it quits.  You will find your strengths and they will mean that much more to you when you do.  It might be the physical or mental changes, the community atmosphere-everyone cheering each other on and encouraging one another, or the way you feel after doing a hard workout that keep you coming back for more.
